2020 GWIKS North Korea Program

GW Institute for Korean Studies (GWIKS) is now accepting applications!


The North Korea Program is designed to provide professionals and graduate students in the United States with balanced, multi-dimensional information about North Korea. It will help the participants to understand North Korea that is often left as a black box in the policy discussions. This program is a six-week intensive online course covering from history to future insights of North Korea.

Enrollment Fee & Participation

The enrollment is free of charge but participation and commitment are essential. All participants must attend at least EIGHT (out of eleven) lectures and the participants’ roundtable.

2. Decision announcement: Monday, September 21, 2020
3. Program date: October 12 – November 18, 2020, 7-9 p.m. ET, Mondays, and Wednesdays
*Please note the adjusted date of the 10th lecture (Thursday, Nov 12) in observance of Veterans Day.



Lecture Format & Eligibility


All the lectures and the participants’ roundtable discussion will be held virtually. This program is intended for professionals in the United States. Admission is highly competitive. Only successful applicants with excellent academic/professional achievements and a demonstrated strong interest in North Korea will be selected to participate.
